How to Ease Shoulder Pain

Did you know that the shoulder is the most flexible joint in the human body? It’s also one of the most insecure. The shoulder is especially susceptible to injury because of its unique construction. As it’s a freely moving joint, the shoulder has an extensive range of motion. The result is it’s vulnerable to stress, injury and pain.

Many Causes of Shoulder Pain

From lifting an item that’s too heavy to repetitive movement such as using a mouse, to bursitis, there are many causes of shoulder pain. If you have shoulder pain, the first step is having an exam at the practice to determine the cause. Your pain could be stemming from the neck or upper back.

How We Can Help

We will base a plan of care off of the exam findings. X-rays may or may not be taken. We may opt to go straight to providing therapy. While we offer many types of therapeutic modalities, these are the three that we use most often for shoulder pain:

Acupuncture - This widely used form of Traditional Chinese Medicine is highly effective in providing pain relief. The needles used are ultrathin, so there’s no need to be nervous.

Chiropractic - Safe and non-invasive, chiropractic care can help to reduce or alleviate pain, boost flexibility, improve range of motion and restore function to your shoulder. We offer an array of techniques and will use the one or ones that we believe will benefit you the most.

Exercises - We will provide you with specific exercises that you can do at home to promote a better range of motion without pain. Ice and heat therapy will also be recommended. Moving your shoulder as much as possible is our goal.

You don’t have to put up with persistent shoulder pain. Contact Volunteer Chiropractic today to book an appointment. We want to help!
